Nigerian actor, Jim Iyke, has expressed his thoughts on the recent comments made by the Oba of Lagos regarding the governorship election in Lagos State. The monarch was quoted saying that incumbent Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu would win the election, even though the future of Labour Party candidate Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour is bright.

In response to this statement, Jim Iyke took to his social media page to question the meaning of democracy. He also shared his experience with a wise man who had advised him to take dual and multiple citizenships seriously, saying that he is glad he listened.

In a post on his social media page, he wrote:

SOMEBODY PLS…. REMIND ME AGAIN, WHAT DEMOCRACY MEANS? GOOGLE HAS FAILED ME. A WISE MAN MADE ME TAKE THE CHOICE OF DUAL, EVEN MULTIPLE CITIZENSHIP SERIOUSLY YEARS AGO. I LISTENED. I’M HERE FOR SOME LOGICAL INSIGHTS. NO MAN IS AN ISLAND. NOT HERE FOR THE DIMWIT INSULTS. PLS TAKE NOTE. GOD BLESS NIGERIA. SMH.”

Jim Iyke’s comments highlight the need for a better understanding of democracy and its principles in Nigeria. With the upcoming governorship election in Lagos State, it is important for Nigerians to be informed about their rights and to exercise them in a peaceful and respectful manner.
