A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Maitama has issued a public summons to Yahaya Bello, the immediate former governor of Kogi State.
The judge ordered Bello to appear and answer to a new 16-count allegation against him.
According to the summons, Bello will appear in court on October 24 for his arraignment, along with two other accused.
On Thursday, Justice Maryanne Anenih issued the order for public summons in response to an appeal by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Justice Anenih directed the EFCC to publish the public summons in a widely circulated publication.
She also directed the EFCC to post copies of the public summons at Bello’s last known residence and in prominent locations within the courthouse.
The EFCC claimed that it was unable to serve Bello with the charge filed on September 24, in which the former governor and two others were charged with criminal breach of trust totalling N110.4 billion.
The other two defendants in the case are Umar Oricha and Abdulsalami Hudu.
Bello’s absence halted the arraignment, which had been planned for Thursday.
