Beverly Osu has openly discussed her tendency to overlook red flags in relationships due to love, emphasizing her personal growth and self-awareness.
The actress, in an interview with Saturday Beats, explained that while she had turned a blind eye to warning signs, she had no regrets about her past.
Yes, I have ignored red flags so many times, even in platonic relationships, but never because of pressure. It was all because of love, hope, and grace. There is absolutely nothing I would have done differently because everyone I have ever loved needed my love at that time,” she shared.
She further elaborated on the complex dynamics of relationships, noting, “Women are nurturers and healers by nature, and with the rise of narcissistic men, the likelihood of meeting or dating one is almost inevitable. Setting boundaries is key. It requires self-awareness and identifying your non-negotiables. Prioritizing your well-being and mental health is vital.”
Osu emphasized the importance of detachment as a survival mechanism, encouraging women to let go of situations that no longer serve their hearts, minds, or bodies.
The actress also addressed misconceptions about societal pressure, clarifying that her choices were never influenced by external forces.
I am never under pressure to love. I love to love, and it can’t be forced. Today’s dating world has changed due to greater self-awareness and evolving lifestyles. Relationships involve two people, and any crash should not solely be attributed to one person’s shortcomings. Accountability is key, but self-blame should be avoided,” she concluded.
