Borno Governor Zulum Orders Construction of Hospital, Schools in Garjang, Damboa

On Thursday, Governor Babagana Umara Zulum visited the communities of Garjang and Damboa town. Both of these LGAs are located in Borno State’s southern Damboa Local Government Area.

In response to the lack of healthcare in the community, Zulum authorised the building of a new general hospital. Particularly for Damboa township as Internally Displaced People (IDPs) use the current hospital in quest of refuge.

According to the governor-

“As you can see, the hospital premises is occupied by internally displaced persons. Therefore, we will construct a new hospital complex around the existing one, where, even after the IDPs leave, it will serve as an extension to provide medical services for the increasing needs of the growing population”.

The Government Secondary School in Damboa, devastated by Boko Haram extremists, was also authorised for repair and renovation.

Governor Babagana Umara Zulum visited Damboa town before going to the Garjang neighbourhood, which is also part of the Damboa Local Government Area. The Governor gave his approval for the fence and rebuilding of two elementary schools.

The names of the institutions are Garjang Central Primary and Junior Secondary School and Garjang Community Integrated Primary School. Zulum evaluated student performance and gave the go-ahead for the hiring of additional teachers from among the locals who met the necessary credentials.

The Governor travelled to Garjang with Professor Baba Mallam Gana, a Garjang native and urologist practising in the UK. Other members of the governor’s entourage were Dr Ali Umar Bashir, a project coordinator for the Multi-Crisis Recovery Project (MCRP) of the World Bank, and Engr. Ibrahim Idriss, the previous Special Adviser on Monitoring and Evaluation.
