Nigerian music sensation Davido has clapped back at a social media user who questioned his claim of being personally invited by football legend Cristiano Ronaldo to Old Trafford.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Davido recounted an unforgettable experience where Ronaldo invited him to a Manchester United match. According to the singer, Ronaldo not only arranged for him to watch the game but also planned a post-match dinner and other festivities. Unfortunately, Manchester United lost the game, prompting Ronaldo to leave abruptly in frustration. Davido humorously added that he still hasn’t forgiven defender Harry Maguire for the loss.
“Football ehn fit give person BP. I remember when CR7 personally invited me to watch the match at Old Trafford a couple of years ago. He don book dinner ALL! Party, chillin, etc. Nah, so dem go lose match. BABA VEX GO HOUSE. Since that day, I still haven’t forgiven Maguire.”
However, an X user cast doubt on Davido’s claims, stating that if Ronaldo had truly invited him, he wouldn’t have been seated with the crowd.
“If CR7 invited you, you won’t sit with the crowd, bro. Stop it,” the user commented.
In his characteristic witty fashion, Davido responded sarcastically:
“I for dey number 9 dey give am assist, u’re right.”
Davido’s association with Ronaldo is well-known. During a 2023 interview, the music star described the Portuguese football icon as his friend, emphasizing their mutual respect and camaraderie. The two global figures also follow each other on Instagram, solidifying their connection.
