The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Saturday arrested at least 12 persons accused of vote buying during supplementary elections in Kano and Katsina states. Kano Area Commander of the Commission, Faruk Dogondaji, told NAN that the suspects were arrested with N1.5 million.

According to him, 10 suspects were arrested in Doguwa LGA, Kano State. Two others were arrested in Kankiya LGA, Katsina State.

Dogondaji noted that the suspects were arrested because they were trying to use the cash to get eligible voters to vote for their party in some polling stations.

He said 10 suspects were arrested with N1,357,500 in Doguwa, Kano State. Furthermore, two others were arrested with N242,000 in Kankia LGA, Katsina State.

“We will also be physically present in all the collation centres to prevent change of results,” he said.
