Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has revealed the dynamics of her relationship with music executive Paul Okoye (Paulo), noting that their bond isn’t traditional, as marriage isn’t on the cards for them.
In a recent interview with TVC Your View, Iyabo spoke about how she and Paulo maintain their privacy, with her opting for personal space when needed. She explained that due to their busy work schedules, with Paulo being equally invested in his career, they both understand the importance of having space. “There are times when I want to be alone, and I just pack my bags and return to my house. We don’t fight over that because he understands,” she shared.
Despite the lack of marriage plans, the two are content with their current arrangement. “We don’t want marriage,” Iyabo stated, emphasizing that they both have children from previous relationships and are focused on enjoying their time together. Their relationship, as she puts it, is about mutual understanding and enjoying life without the pressure of societal expectations.
In December 2022, Iyabo Ojo went public about her relationship with Paulo, marking the occasion with an Instagram post on her 45th birthday. The actress shared a heartfelt video collage of their moments together, confirming that she was dating the businessman. While many have celebrated their love, the actress has faced backlash from trolls, who have criticized her for publicly affirming her love for Paulo. In her defense, Iyabo has remained adamant that her feelings are genuine, reiterating that she is committed to him.
Another topic that has been a source of speculation is Iyabo Ojo’s alleged involvement with the popular anonymous blog, Gistlover. For years, the identity behind the blog remained a mystery, with some controversial figures, including journalist Kemi Olunloyo, claiming Iyabo and fellow actress Tonto Dikeh were behind the platform. During an interview with comedian Ayo Makun for his podcast Glass House, Iyabo addressed these claims directly, questioning how she could be behind Gistlover when the blog had attacked her and her daughter. “How would I be Gistlover and drag myself and my daughter on the same blog?” Iyabo asked, revealing that she later learned that those close to her were leaking information to the blogger.
In 2023, Iyabo Ojo also responded to the arrest of several individuals linked to the Gistlover syndicate. The arrests brought attention to the blog’s illegal activities, including cyberstalking, blackmail, and defamation of public figures. Despite the blog’s notoriety, Iyabo has made it clear that she has no part in its operations.
Outside of her love life and the drama surrounding Gistlover, Iyabo Ojo is widely regarded as one of Nollywood’s most fashionable stars.
