Jennifer Awele, wife of late Nollywood actor Junior Pope, has marked the first anniversary of his tragic passing with an emotional tribute. Junior Pope lost his life alongside others on April 8th last year after drowning in the Anam River, Anambra State, while returning from a movie set produced by Adanma Luke.

The incident sparked outrage over the lack of safety measures provided for the actors.

Jennifer took to Instagram to reflect on the challenging year since his death, expressing how his love, laughter, and presence remain deeply ingrained in their hearts. She acknowledged the struggles of raising their children and responding to their questions about promises their father made, such as attending their first football match or delivering a toy car.

It’s been one year of standing in the face of our unimaginable loss, and not a day has gone by without a thought of you,” she wrote. Jennifer thanked everyone who has supported her family and vowed to keep Junior Pope’s legacy alive.

Similarly, May Edochie, estranged wife of Nollywood actor Yul Edochie, also commemorated Junior Pope’s remembrance. She shared fond memories of his favorite sayings and prayed for strength for his widow, encouraging her to restart her business and focus on building a bright future for their family.

In the wake of Junior Pope’s passing, May has consistently shown support for Jennifer, visiting her, sharing heartfelt messages, and encouraging her to stay strong through milestones such as his posthumous birthday and what would have been his 10th wedding anniversary.
