Nollywood actor Jigan Babaoja has shown respect to his senior colleague, Femi Adebayo, who also serves as the Mayor of the African Men Entertainment Kings (AFRIMEK).
This comes after Jigan, alongside fellow actor Adeniyi Johnson, was suspended from AFRIMEK for gross misconduct and a breach of the club’s constitution. The suspension was reported last week and has stirred reactions within the entertainment industry.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Jigan acknowledged his mistakes, stating that he understands how his actions have let his colleagues down. He accepted full responsibility and requested forgiveness from both the club and his fans. He further urged his family and supporters to extend their apologies on his behalf.
Jigan expressed his commitment to making amends, seeking guidance, and rededicating himself to the principles that AFRIMEK upholds. He promised to strive to be a better example moving forward.
On Friday, the actor took to Instagram to share a photo of Femi Adebayo, commending his rare leadership qualities. He expressed his deep respect for Adebayo, writing:
“Leader! Your type is rare! Femi Adebayo Salami, I respect you @femiadebayosalami. Thank you, sir.”
In response, Femi Adebayo appreciated the kind words, replying:
“Thank you so much. I appreciate.”
Jigan is not the only one facing suspension. Adeniyi Johnson was also suspended for similar reasons—gross misconduct and breach of AFRIMEK’s constitution. Johnson expressed his sadness over the suspension, stating that while he is not bigger than the club, the post about his suspension could damage his brand and reputation.
In a show of gratitude, Johnson also publicly thanked Dele Odule for being a supportive mentor, leader, and guide during this challenging time.
This is not the first time AFRIMEK has suspended a member for misconduct. Last year, Shoneye Olamilekan (popularly known as Papa Showw) was suspended for physically assaulting his colleague Temidayo Morkinyo. In a letter signed by Mayor Femi Adebayo, AFRIMEK distanced itself from Olamilekan’s actions, stating that they do not align with the values of the club. The actor later apologized publicly, vowing never to repeat the offense.
