Juliana Olayode opens up about her battle with depression and suicidal thoughts, revealing that she struggled for nearly three years before finding complete healing through faith.
The Nollywood actress, known for her role in Toyi Baby, shared on Instagram that she appeared fine outwardly while internally battling depression and suicidal thoughts. She reflected on the immense emotional weight she carried, which even affected her physically, noting weight gain and various health diagnoses during that period.
I was depressed and suicidal for almost three years. Of course, I showed up every day, as if I wasn’t struggling or dying inside… Therapy is great, but sometimes you need to return to your Maker for the perfect fix, and guess what? It’s FREE,” she wrote, encouraging followers to seek God for healing. Juliana expressed gratitude for her recovery and urged anyone struggling to surrender their pain to God, promising that “the sun will rise again.”
She further emphasized the importance of vulnerability and reaching out, assuring her followers that depression is not the end.
GOD LOVES YOU, GOD WANTS YOU HEALED AND ALIVE. YOU NEED TO GO TO HIM… You think you have little or no strength for it, but inside of you lies so much strength and capacity to break free and come out whole,” she added.
Juliana’s revelation follows previous advocacy for victims of abuse, including her 2022 call-out of Pastor Timi Adigun for alleged misconduct. She has consistently used her platform to share personal experiences and support others facing mental health and emotional challenges.
