Katsina: Police Thwart Kidnap Attempt, Kills Two terrorists, Recover Weapon

The Katsina State Police Command has thwarted a kidnapping attempt in Tani village, Bindawa LGA. Its officers killed two terrorists and seized one Ak-47 weapon as well as five rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition.

According to ASP Abubakar Sadiq, the command’s spokesman, the terrorists stormed the community. They shot sporadically before attacking the residence of one of the villagers, Yahaya Usman. The attack caused a deep wound on his head while trying to kidnap him.

The kidnapping attempt was thwarted by the early intervention of the Bindawa Divisional Police upon receipt of the complaint, which resulted in a heated gun duel.

The two bodies retrieved were claimed to be those of suspected terrorists and arms traffickers Sani Kokaya and Ummara, both of whom were from the state’s Kaita LGA and were on the command’s wanted list, according to ASP Sadiq.
