Kebbi State Partners with Egypt in Agriculture Livestock

Kebbi State Government said it would work with Egyptian agriculture and livestock experts to develop the state. The state governor, Atiku Bagudu, made this clear on Friday when he received agricultural experts from Egypt who visited the government building in Birnin Kebbi.

He said the government believes partnership and cooperation are essential elements for the nation’s development. He said:

“The state is endowed with abundant agricultural potentials and rated as the second most livestock-producing state in the country. In addition, the state has become the gateway to West Africa in animal husbandry due to its strategic location of sharing boundaries with both the Republic of Niger and the Benin Republic. We have already signed a tripartite agreement with Kwanni in Niger Republic and Maleville in the Republic of Benin on the development of animal husbandry”.

Bagdu also said the state’s residents are hardworking and actively adapt to modern agricultural and animal husbandry methods.

He also commended the visit of Alhaji Aminu Goronyo, the National President of the Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria (RIFAN), to set the ground for cooperation in the agricultural sector.

He further disclosed that;

“The President-elect Bola Tinubu has pledged to build on the achievements on agricultural revival for food security initiated by President Muhammadu Buhari at the national level. Also, here in the state, the Governor-elect Dr Nasir Idris, has affirmed similar commitment to strengthen the agricultural revolution started by incumbent administration at state level”.

The Egyptian experts, led by Gen. Walid Soliman-Morsy, sought partnerships with the state and its resident on agricultural development; the RIFAN President disclosed this to the governor.

He announced that experts are ready to develop several hectares of Fadama land in the state by training farmers and applying the latest cultivation methods, techniques, and expertise.

Goronyo said the team would also visit Lagos,, Ogun states, and Calabar on the Cross River for similar activities.

Egyptian farmers, led by Soliman Morsi, said they were in the state to form joint partnerships with the government to explore areas of interest in agriculture and animal husbandry.
