PSG coach, Galtier confirms Messi’s Departure from Club

PSG has reportedly suspended Lionel Messi immediately after taking a trip away that the club did not authorize.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Paris Saint-Germain has decided to suspend Lionel Messi immediately for two weeks.

The 35-year-old went to Saudi Arabia after PSG’s Ligue 1 defeat to Lorient. Manager Christophe Galtier reportedly did not approve of the move.

Messi played the full 90 minutes for PSG against Lorient, as Galtier’s side fell to a surprise 3-1 home defeat.

Following the home loss on Monday, PSG summoned its players for training. However, Messi did not attend the session, leaving his colleagues confused.

The day after Lorient’s defeat against them on Monday, the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner was spotted at Riyadh airport. He was there in connection to his role as a tourism ambassador in the country.

With Messi’s contract at Paris Saint-Germain set to expire at the end of the current season, several clubs are eyeing the veteran for a potential move. Among these are Saudi Arabia and the United States, along with former club Barcelona, who are eager to return him to Camp Nou.

The Argentina international will miss fixtures against Troyes this weekend and Ajaccio on May 13, with PSG five points clear at the top of the table.
