NDLEA arrests Pretty Mike and others after operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency raided a popular nightclub in Victoria Island, Lagos, where a suspected drug party was allegedly taking place.

According to a statement by NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, the operation took place in the early hours of Sunday, October 26, at Proxy Nightclub, located at 7 Akin Adesola Street, Victoria Island. Over 100 persons, including the club owner, socialite Mike Eze Nwalie Nwogu, popularly known as Pretty Mike, were taken into custody for screening.

Babafemi revealed that the raid followed credible intelligence that a drug-themed party was being organized at the club. NDLEA operatives, who had been strategically embedded at the event from 11 p.m. on Saturday, disrupted the gathering around 3 a.m. on Sunday in line with the agency’s Standard Operating Procedures.

Cartons of illicit substances, including Loud and laughing gas, were reportedly recovered from both guests and the club’s store during the operation.

The incident has since sparked reactions across social media, with many Nigerians expressing mixed feelings about the high-profile arrest.

Some commenters accused rival clubs of tipping off the NDLEA, while others questioned why similar actions weren’t being taken in other high-end locations.

“This is clearly a set-up, but we all know Pretty Mike will come out of this stronger. This is good publicity,” one user wrote.
Another added, “When will NDLEA raid Ned Nwoko’s compound or Regina Daniels’ house?”

Despite the controversy, the agency has maintained that its actions were purely based on intelligence and due process.
