Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Governor of Lagos State, has emphasised that his administration would continue to support youth involvement and sports development in order to establish a sane society.

Sanwo-Olu, represented by the Chairman of the Lagos State Sports Commission, Sola Aiyepeku, stated this in his remarks at the final match/closing ceremony of the 15th U-16 Inter-State Emeka Anyaoku Cup 2023, which was held at the Abalti Barracks, Gbajabiamila Mini-Stadium, Yaba, according to a statement released on Monday.

The governor emphasised that his administration “would not leave any stone unturned in terms of using the instrumentality of sports to develop every nook and cranny of the state.”

While lauding the big sponsor’s contributions and accomplishments, he urged him to contribute more money to sports development.

In his remarks, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, a former secretary-general of the Commonwealth and the tournament’s sponsor, praised Governor Sanwo-Olu for his continued support of the competition and asked him to continue to introduce laws that will promote sports development throughout the State.

He complimented Olumo Football Club from Oyo State for beating Utility Football Club from Kwara State by a score of 3-1 while praising all the competitors and the outstanding calibre of the games.

Oluwatoyin Gafaar, the director general of the Lagos State Sports Commission, Oshodi-Eko Titilayo, the director of public affairs, and Damilare Orimoloye, a board member of the LSSC, were also in attendance.
