Legendary Nigerian singer Innocent Idibia, better known as 2face or 2baba, and celebrity stylist Toyin Lawani have shared their thoughts on the recent assassination attempt on former US president Donald Trump.
On Saturday, Trump, who is running for the presidential election, was nearly assassinated during his rally in Pennsylvania. He was shot in the head while delivering his speech, causing chaos as Secret Service officials quickly rushed him off the stage and into a vehicle. Despite the dramatic incident, Trump walked off the stage with agents by his side.
2Baba took to social media, expressing his skepticism about the incident. He compared the event to a Hollywood production, stating,
Jussie Smollet dey learn. I go shock if I wrong but this shit na pure package. Hollywood dey learn.
Similarly, Toyin Lawani commented on a blog’s post, suggesting the incident was staged and awarding Trump the title of “Best Actor of the Year.”
2Baba’s comments sparked a strong reaction from netizens. Many criticized him for his unsolicited opinion, using his past cheating scandals to taunt him. Comments ranged from questioning the sacrifice of lives for a staged event to mocking his ability to speak on political matters.
One user wrote,
2face this is not impregnating different women, it’s politics,” while another said, “Man talks like an illiterate. You don’t say things like this when you have no evidence.”
This isn’t the first time 2Baba has faced backlash for his comments on political matters. Last year, he was criticized for his remarks about the FBI’s plans to release documents related to President Tinubu. His suggestion that the FBI should release documents involving various other figures, including former US presidents and international leaders, led to a strong reaction from netizens who questioned his stance and reminded him of his own controversies.
Despite the backlash, 2Baba and Toyin Lawani’s comments have stirred discussions on social media, with many Nigerians weighing in on the authenticity of the assassination attempt and the broader implications of such events in the political sphere.
