Nigerian music icon Innocent Idibia, famously known as 2Baba or 2Face, has officially announced his separation from his wife, Annie Idibia.
The singer disclosed on Instagram that the couple, who have been separated for some time, have filed for divorce.
2Baba shared the news in a heartfelt post, explaining that while it was not anyone’s right to know about his personal life, he felt compelled to speak his truth for the sake of his fans. He assured his followers that a press release would be issued soon to provide clarity.
Hello to my beautiful people of all federations, this thing I have to say is short but also long. Annie Macaulay and I have been separated for a while now and have filed for divorce. I will grant a press release soon to tell my story—not because it is anyone’s right to know, but because I love my people and need them to understand my innocence or offense. Stay blessed, my people. I love you all,” 2Baba wrote.
The announcement shocked fans, especially since Annie had recently shared joyful moments of the couple celebrating their December together. She had expressed pride in their 25 years of friendship and 13 years of marriage, dismissing critics and praising their enduring love.
This isn’t the first time the couple’s marriage has faced public scrutiny. In 2021, Annie accused 2Baba of having an affair with his second baby mama, Pero Adeniyi, leading to a widely publicized marital dispute. Despite the challenges, the couple reconciled, and in 2023, 2Baba issued a public apology to Annie, renouncing his “role model” status.
Annie, in turn, expressed her unwavering love, describing her husband as her home, rest, and safe place.
Though 2Baba confirmed the news and deleted subsequent Instagram posts claiming his account was hacked, Annie has yet to issue a statement regarding the separation. Fans await further updates as both parties navigate this challenging chapter in their lives.
