Isabella Idibia, the daughter of legendary Nigerian singer 2face and actress Annie Idibia, has voiced her discontent over the portrayal of her parents on the Netflix reality show “Young, Famous and African.”
In a candid Question and Answer video shared on her YouTube channel, Isabella expressed sadness at the inaccurate depiction of her parents and the challenges she faces when defending them.
I don’t like the way my parents were portrayed in Young, Famous and African. They were portrayed so wrong. Whenever I try to back them up, people would be like that’s not what happened. You guys aren’t in my family, your knowledge is based on what you see on social media. I know it because I have been in the house with my parents, and I can’t change everyone’s perspective. People on social media will always think whatever they want to think, but honestly, they would never know the actual true story. They weren’t given the best image and it wasn’t accurate”.
Isabella highlighted the disconnect between public perception, largely shaped by social media, and the reality of her family life. She lamented the difficulty of correcting misconceptions when people rely solely on online narratives.
The controversy surrounding her parents’ portrayal on the show stemmed from episodes where Annie Idibia tearfully addressed the challenges in her marriage to 2face. Annie opened up about her feelings of embarrassment and betrayal, particularly in light of 2face’s relationships with other women and his public comments on infidelity.
During one episode, Annie pleaded with critics to refrain from scrutinizing her marriage and airing her marital struggles online, expressing her disillusionment with those hoping for her to share more of her personal life online.
