The comparison between former President Donald Trump and the late rapper Tupac Shakur has drawn criticism from Shakur’s sister, Set Shakur. Alina Habba, Trump’s attorney, made the comparison in an interview with The Benny Show. She suggested that Trump’s legal troubles will boost his poll numbers. “Just as Tupac’s record sales went up following his death“, She said.
However, Set Shakur called the comparison “blasphemous“. She pointed out that her brother was measured by his integrity, principles, and personal responsibility. She also noted that Tupac took accountability during his 1994 sexual abuse trial, unlike Trump. Shakur added that Tupac did not gain popularity because of his time in prison but because people could measure him by his words and actions that aligned.
The comparison made by Habba comes as Trump prepares to turn himself in for the reported hush money he gave to Stormy Daniels in 2016. Trump is in New York City right now ahead of his arraignment hearing on Tuesday. He will face criminal charges for allegedly making hush-money payments to the porn star. The payment is allegedly to not speak about their alleged sexual relationship publicly.
Tupac’s legacy as a socially conscious and politically engaged artist who advocated for social justice and equality is well-known. However, the comparison between Tupac and Trump may seem far-fetched and inappropriate to some people.
