Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo recently expressed her discontent with the tax bill she received from the Lagos state government. She called out Governor Sanwo Olu and the entire Lagos state government. She questioned the rationale behind the exorbitant personal income taxes she receives regularly. Iyabo Ojo took to her Instagram page to share photos of the bill and voiced her concerns.
She mentioned that she already pays various taxes for her businesses and property. Nonetheless, she continues to receive substantial tax bills with a short deadlines for payment. Iyabo further expressed frustration at the lack of response from the government regarding her previous attempts to address the issue. She also questioned how such inflated bills were calculated. Further emphasizing that she does not possess the means to pay such exorbitant amounts.
Iyabo Ojo made it clear that the government’s actions would not break her.
She asserted that they did not contribute to her success. She stated that she stands firmly by her beliefs and cannot be pressured or swayed. Iyabo expressed her desire for a better Nigeria and stated that she is not afraid to voice her opinions, regardless of whose ego may be affected. She emphasized that she sees herself as a Nigerian, not bound by tribal differences, and believes in the unity of the country.
The actress concluded her statement by stating that she has no enemies and that all Nigerians are in this together, as citizens of the same country. She expressed empathy for Nigeria and its future, rather than being swayed by immediate personal gain.
She stated that her beliefs will only change if Nigeria experiences a positive transformation after eight years. In her closing remarks, she affirmed her resilience, stating that no one can break her and that her soul cannot be taken, even if her physical body may be affected.
