Inter Milan have taken the lead in the competition to secure the signature of Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun during this summer transfer window.
According to The Independent, Inter has emerged as the favorites to sign Balogun, who has been placed on the transfer list by Arsenal’s manager, Mikel Arteta. Alongside Inter’s interest, AC Milan is also showing interest in the talented striker. Furthermore, Monaco and RB Leipzig are also in the race to sign him.
Initially, Inter had shown interest in signing Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku, but they abandoned that pursuit as Lukaku entered talks with Juventus, thus turning their attention towards securing Balogun.
Balogun showcased his talent while on loan at French club Reims last season, scoring an impressive 22 goals. With Arsenal looking to boost their transfer budget, they have allowed Balogun to leave the club.
Under Arteta’s management, Arsenal has already strengthened their squad by signing players such as Kai Havertz, Declan Rice, and Jurrien Timber. Now, the club aims to generate further funds through player sales, with Balogun being one of the players on the departure list.
As a result, Balogun has been informed of his potential departure, although it was a decision that Arteta took some time to make.
The Emirates Cup match between Arsenal and Monaco is scheduled for August 2.
