In the wake of reports about the arrival of twins for Afrobeat sensation Davido and his wife, Chioma, the award-winning singer has issued a plea to the public via Twitter.
Davido urged everyone to refrain from circulating old images of him and Chioma on a hospital bed during the birth of their late son, Ifeanyi.
Stop circulating old pictures, thank you,” Davido tweeted.
Although the couple is yet to officially confirm the news, speculation gained traction after Davido hinted at the possibility of twins in his song “In The Garden,” featuring Morravey. Furthermore, on Sunday, the singer tweeted that the upcoming week would be the best week of his life.
Davido’s brother, Adewale Adeleke, added fuel to the rumors by expressing gratitude to God on Twitter, simply stating, “We thank God.”
Adding more credibility to the reports, music executive Ovie claimed to have confirmed the news, congratulating the couple on the arrival of their double blessings.
Investigative journalist Kemi Olunloyo also supported the rumours, sharing details about the twins’ birth. According to Olunloyo, Chioma gave birth to a boy and a girl at Grady Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, US, through cesarean operation (CS) at 38 weeks. Chioma, who had been on bed rest for 90 days, welcomed the twins on Monday, 9th October 2023.
Numerous celebrities, including Iyabo Ojo, Junior Pope, Daddy Freeze, Victoria Inyama, and Susan Peters, congratulated the couple on social media. Iyabo Ojo offered a heartfelt prayer for the new parents, while Susan Peters rejoiced, calling them ‘Papa and Mama Ejima’ and emphasizing that God gave them double for their pain.
Junior Pope credited God as the greatest, giving all glory to Him, and Victoria Inyama expressed overwhelming joy at the news, seeing it as a reminder that God reigns supreme. She acknowledged the couple’s journey, from the trauma of losing a child to facing hateful slanders, and admired their resilience in the face of immense tribulations.
