Renowned Nigerian stand-up comedian, Helen Paul, widely known as Tatafo, has touched the hearts of many as she shared her powerful life story in a recent video posted on her Instagram page. In the emotional narration, she discussed feeling rejected due to the circumstances of her birth and turned that rejection into a source of strength.
Helen Paul revealed that she faced stigmatization because she was born as a result of rape. She opened up about how her relatives, including her aunties, constantly reminded her that she had “bad blood,” and they insisted that none of her grandmother’s stipends should be spent on her.
The comedian shared the poignant details of her naming ceremony, where she was christened Helen. However, an unknown man gave her his name because her family believed she was a stain on their reputation.
Desite the challenges and stigmatization, Helen Paul urged her fans in the video to press on and not be weighed down by the negative opinions of others. She emphasized that she transformed from being a comedian in Nigeria to becoming a professor in the United States.
Never feel rejected; believe it to be your power force. From a comedian in Nigeria to a professor in the USA. What a story! Please be alive to tell your story too. All things will work out,” she encouraged.
Earlier, Helen Paul celebrated a significant achievement as she officially became a professor. Her new title is Professor Paul Helen. In addition to this, she was appointed as the Head of Department for Arts, Music, and Entertainment at Heart International University, USA.
The comedian expressed gratitude to her husband, Femi Bamisele, the school management, and all her loved ones for their support.
