Former Chelsea midfielder Emmanuel Petit has cautioned Chelsea against pursuing a deal for Napoli star Victor Osimhen, urging the club to focus on nurturing their existing talent pool.
Despite Osimhen’s prowess as one of the top strikers globally, Petit believes Chelsea should redirect their attention to underutilized players within their squad.
Chelsea, alongside Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal, have been linked with the Nigerian international, who has impressed with his performances in Serie A this season, scoring 12 goals and providing three assists in 19 league appearances.
However, Petit argues that Chelsea has an abundance of untapped potential within their ranks and should prioritize developing these players rather than splurging on new signings.
“I don’t think Chelsea need Gyokeres or Osimhen. With Chelsea, there are so many players who are not playing to their level and can do so much more,” Petit told Genting Casino.
With Chelsea facing decisions on their future squad composition, Petit’s advice offers a strategic perspective on the club’s transfer priorities.
