England manager Gareth Southgate has provided a crucial update on Harry Kane’s fitness, reassuring fans that the striker will be ready for Euro 2024 despite recent injury concerns.

Kane suffered a back injury during Bayern Munich’s 2-1 Champions League semi-final defeat to Real Madrid earlier this month, causing him to miss Bayern’s final two Bundesliga matches. This absence raised fears about his availability for the upcoming European Championship.

Addressing these concerns, Southgate stated, “He [Kane] is quite relaxed about it. I think a sensible decision was taken not to push for [Bayern’s last games], but our understanding of it is that it is something that is pretty much clear now. Back problems can just happen, [during] travel [or] whatever else but it is not something we are concerned about at this moment in time.”

Kane’s recovery is a significant relief for England, given his importance to the squad. He has been in prolific form for Bayern this season, and his presence will be vital as England aims for European glory.

The Three Lions will play their final warm-up matches against Bosnia and Herzegovina on June 3 and Iceland on June 7 before kicking off their Euro 2024 campaign against Serbia on June 16. Ensuring Kane’s fitness for these preparatory games and the tournament is paramount for Southgate and his team.

With Kane’s recovery on track, England’s prospects at the Euros look promising, alleviating the initial worries that surrounded their star forward’s injury.
