Nigerian comedian, actor, and content creator Bovi Ugboma appears to have subtly shaded his colleague Kate Henshaw with his recent Father’s Day message.
Kate Henshaw had faced backlash after she shared a Bible passage on Father’s Day, specifically celebrating responsible fathers and praying for God’s strength, favor, and blessings upon them. Critics pointed out the double standard, as she had wished all mothers a Happy Mother’s Day without reservation.
In what seemed like a response to the controversy, Bovi took to Instagram to extend his Father’s Day wishes to all fathers, including accidental, irresponsible, and absent fathers, stating that they all matter. He posted,
Happy Father’s Day to me! To all the accidental fathers, the irresponsible ones, and the absent ones! Y’all matter!”
Bovi’s message received mixed reactions. Some fans applauded him for his inclusive statement, while others saw it as stirring trouble. Comments included:
– “Bovi likes wahala” – Kilali Xo
– “Abi everyone is included. Make peace dey” – Zara Single Zee1
– “Better caption father na father” – SB National Treasure
– “They don’t have to be responsible?? Wow. Ok” – Cares Hub
– “Yes ooo. Every father matter” – Iffie Tejiri
– “Let them know” – Figo Huncho
– “Make peace reign” – Engr Pookie
Recently, Bovi shared a reflective post about his life and battles with powerful enemies, revealing how Jesus stood aside as he faced the host of hell. He hinted at having had two very powerful enemies without disclosing their identities.
In May, Bovi lamented his repeated losses at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), despite being nominated seven times since the inception of the awards, with four individual nominations. He optimistically stated that he hopes to win 10 awards by the 20th anniversary of AMVCA.
