BUSINESS MANAGER

Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and hands on visionary Business Manager to head the operations of our leading, premium salon. The Business Manager will play a critical role in driving business growth, ensuring operational efficiency, and maintaining high standards of service delivery. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in salon management or hospitality, exceptional leadership skills, and a passion for delivering outstanding client experiences.

 Responsibilities:

  • Demand Planning:

i. Develop and implement demand planning strategies to effectively manage inventory levels and meet customer demand.

ii. Analyze market trends and customer preferences to anticipate future demand and adjust salon operations accordingly.

  • Staff Management:

i. Oversee staff tasks and responsibilities, ensuring that all team members are performing their roles effectively and efficiently.

ii. Provide leadership, guidance, and support to salon staff, fostering a positive work environment and promoting professional development.

iii. Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to staff to enhance performance and productivity.

iv. Recruit and manage technical salon staff alongside HR

v. Conduct / oversee performance reviews and disciplinary actions alongside HR

vi. Handle technical employee onboarding and relations alongside HR

vii. Develop HR strategies and planning- Ensure that the right staffs are retained alongside HR

viii. Monitor industry trends and regulations.

ix. Provide guidance and support for staff development alongside HR

x. Manage staff roster and leave plans alongside HR

xi. Review, write and update SOPs for staff activities.

xii. Ensure staff compliance with policies and safety regulations.

xiii. Lead team meetings and motivate staff.

xv. Organize events to enhance staff engagement.

xvi. Keep record of staff productivity.

  • Revenue Management:

i. Review revenue targets and develop strategies to achieve and exceed sales goals.

ii. Monitor salon performance metrics and financial indicators to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective measures as needed.

iii. Explore new revenue streams and business opportunities to drive growth and profitability such as events, nominations and awards, funding opportunities.

iv. Prepare reports alongside finance to analyse business performance and make recommendations to grow the business and address identified issues.

  • Risk Management:

i. Identify potential risks and vulnerabilities to salon operations and develop risk mitigation strategies.

ii. Review and implement risk response plans to minimize the impact of adverse events on salon operations and reputation.

iii. Implement control measures to address risks to the business.

  • Cost Management:

i. Review salon expenses and approve expenditures to ensure cost-effective operations.

ii. Implement cost-saving initiatives and efficiency measures to optimize salon profitability while maintaining quality standards.

  • Client Relations:

i. Maintain positive relationships with clients, ensuring their satisfaction with salon services and experiences.

ii. Address client concerns and complaints in a timely and professional manner, seeking to resolve issues and exceed expectations.

iii. Maintain oversight of the salon operations, ensuring that clients are comfortable and satisfied with their services.

iv. Implement loyalty programs and referral systems.

v. Seek and implement customer feedback for service improvement.

vi. Develop and promote service and product promotions.

Marketing and Promotion:

i. Collaborate with marketing team to develop and execute promotional campaigns and marketing strategies to attract new clients and retain existing ones.

ii. Monitor the effectiveness of marketing efforts and adjust strategies as needed to maximize results.

  • Training and Development:

i. Provide ongoing training and development opportunities for salon staff to enhance their skills and expertise.

ii. Work alongside the Head Stylist (Educator) to assess technical staff performance at least once quarterly and provide feedback to HR and MD.

iii. Stay updated on industry trends, techniques, and best practices, and incorporate new knowledge into salon operations and services.

Person Specifications

Female – At least 30 years old

Good carriage

Ability to command and lead

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or related field.
  • Proven experience in salon management or related industry, with a track record of success in driving business growth and profitability.
  • Strong leadership and managerial skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve excellence.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-centric approach to service delivery.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret financial data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Knowledge of salon operations, industry regulations, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in salon management software and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Keen and demonstratable interest in the hair and beauty industry
