Nigerian comedian Oluseyi Aletile, popularly known as Seyi Law, has officially resumed his duties as Senior Special Adviser (SSA) on Entertainment and Tourism to the Ondo State Governor, His Excellency Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.

However, his new role has sparked backlash online, with netizens expressing their disapproval.

Last month, Seyi Law was appointed as the Senior Special Adviser on Entertainment and Tourism to the Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency Orimisan Aiyedatiwa. The comedian, in his typical jovial manner, took to Instagram to share the good news, thanking the governor for the opportunity and praying for divine assistance in achieving the state’s vision.

Seyi Law has now officially resumed his duties, sharing a video of his courtesy visit to the Deputy Governor, Dr. Olayide Adelami mni, and the Secretary to the State Government, Hon. Tayo Oluwatuyi. The video also captured his warm welcome at the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, where staff members greeted him with dancing and singing.

In his post, Seyi Law called on the indigenes of Ondo State to support his projects, urging them to follow the newly launched social media pages dedicated to promoting the state’s entertainment and tourism initiatives.

Today, I resumed work as the SSA on Entertainment and Tourism to the Executive Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa. I paid a courtesy visit to the Deputy Governor, His Excellency Dr. Olayide Adelami mni, and the SSG, Hon. Tayo Oluwatuyi. I was also welcomed to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism by members of staff with dancing and singing. I spent part of the day with the MD of the International Culture and Events Centre (The Dome) and the Chief Press Secretary, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan.

Despite the celebratory tone, Seyi Law’s announcement was met with harsh criticism from some netizens who flooded his comment section with negative remarks.

One user, Odogwu Nwoke, commented, “Ode wey I don unfollow, SSA on Belle Matters and Stomach Infrastructure.”

Another, Official Kelechi Awurum, wrote, “Mumu, you will never make it there for putting pains in us,” followed by another comment, “I have swear for your life you will never make it.”

These reactions highlight the divided opinions among Nigerians regarding the comedian’s new role, with many expressing dissatisfaction and skepticism.

Seyi Law isn’t the only celebrity to step into a political role recently. In May, Eniola Badmus, a well-known supporter of President Tinubu, was appointed as the Special Assistant to the Speaker of The Federal Republic of Nigeria on Social Events and Public Hearings. Like Seyi Law, Eniola also received a mixed reception from the public, though she expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to serve.
