Nigerian award-winning comedian and filmmaker Ayo Makun, popularly known as AY, has publicly called out actor Deyemi Okanlawon for what he describes as bullying behaviour on set.
Taking to his Instagram page, AY expressed his frustration with Deyemi’s constant need to compete with him, despite their age difference of over ten years. AY highlighted how Deyemi has been relentless in comparing himself to him, from boasting about his movie making over 100 million naira in cinemas to even competing over looks.
AY humorously conceded that while Deyemi may have more chest muscles, he refuses to believe that the younger actor is more handsome.
In a lighthearted yet serious tone, AY urged his followers to “judge responsibly” as he shared how Deyemi allegedly asked the director to reduce his fight scenes just so he could shine more as the hero in their latest project, *The Waiter*. AY also mentioned that while he had no problem with the other actors on set, Deyemi’s competitive nature was unrelenting.
Reacting to AY’s post, Deyemi took to the comment section to apologize, explaining that he didn’t want to cause the comedian any stress on set, especially considering AY’s seniority.
In a related post, AY shared a reflective message on the dangers of social media, likening it to the new “King Kong” where emotions often overshadow objective facts. He noted that people are quick to praise foolishness if it aligns with their views, while wisdom is often met with criticism. AY emphasized the importance of peace and coexistence, adding that by accepting people for who they are, rather than expecting perfection, one can foster better relationships.
