Nollywood actress and filmmaker Omoni Oboli was overwhelmed with emotion as she received a brand new car at the premiere of her latest movie, The Uprising.
The event, which marked her return to the big screen after a brief hiatus from Cinema movies, took place on Sunday night, and it was a moment to remember for the actress.
Taking to Instagram, the box office queen shared a clip of the touching moment when she was gifted a car by her partners. Omoni expressed that the car was not just a vehicle, but a symbol of her growth, passion, and impact on shaping Nollywood. She highlighted how meaningful it is to have collaborators who believe in her vision as a storyteller and creator in the industry.
I’m grateful beyond words! A heartfelt thank you to @gacmotorngr and @jubriloflagos for this incredible gift,” she wrote. “As a storyteller, dreamer, and creator in this industry, it means so much to have partners who believe in my vision. This is more than just a car—it’s a symbol of the growth, passion, and impact we’re shaping in Nollywood. Here’s to more miles, more magic, and more greatness!”
Several Nollywood stars, including May Edochie, Funke Akindele, Ayo Makun, Mercy Aigbe, Ini Edo, Alex Ekubo, and Chinedu Ikedieze, took to the comment section to celebrate with her.
Omoni’s Return to Cinema
Ahead of the premiere, Omoni had expressed her excitement and nervousness about returning to the big screen after a five-year break. She admitted to having butterflies in her stomach, as it had been a long time since her last Cinema release. This, coupled with her personal investment in the movie, made the moment even more special.
A few weeks ago, Omoni celebrated another milestone when her 2019 movie, Last Year Single, continued to top the charts on Netflix in Nigeria. She proudly shared that the film was still the number one show on the streaming platform despite being released years ago.
In other news, Omoni Oboli was involved in a social media feud with fellow actress Ruth Kadiri some months back. The two stars exchanged cryptic messages on their respective Instagram stories. Ruth accused a colleague of hijacking her artists and purchasing views on YouTube, which negatively affected the ratings of her proteges. In response, Omoni shared a prayer for her enemies, emphasizing the importance of love both online and offline.
