Nollywood actress Dayo Amusa has shared her emotional journey to motherhood, offering a candid glimpse into her struggles with infertility, miscarriages, and the ultimate joy of becoming a mother.
Speaking in a heartfelt interview with her colleague Debbie Shokoya, the actress revealed her deepest moments of despair and the unwavering faith that brought her throughDayo Amusa recounted how she broke down in tears before her domestic staff, pouring her heart out to God during one of the darkest periods of her life. She recalled crying and singing at the top of her voice, giving God an ultimatum to either fulfill His promise of motherhood or take her life.
I was telling God it’s either You take my life at this moment or fulfill that promise You made to me. I cried and told God I was tired. I knew how many medical checkups and surgeries I had gone through. If this thing will happen, let it happen, but if not, He should take me.”
In November 2024, Dayo Amusa’s prayers were answered when she welcomed her son, Oluwafirewamiri. Expressing her gratitude, the actress described him as her greatest treasure and shared her excitement about being a mother.
Following her son’s naming ceremony, Dayo addressed critics who questioned her son’s paternity, questioning if their own husbands were missing. She expressed joy at being called “someone’s mother,” a new chapter in her life she had long yearned for.
Dayo Amusa’s journey to motherhood was not without its struggles. She revealed she had suffered three miscarriages and was abandoned by her ex-husband, who left her and fathered a child with someone else. Despite these painful experiences, the actress remained resolute in her desire to become a complete woman and build a family.
On Christmas Day 2024, Dayo shared photos of herself and her newborn son in matching outfits, describing him as her best gift ever. She prayed for both herself and his father to be living examples to him, further solidifying her joy at the blessing of motherhood.
The arrival of her son silenced years of online mockery and false narratives. Previously, Dayo was subjected to trolling for her inability to conceive, with some linking her challenges to her political choices during the 2023 elections. Last year, she had laid heavy curses on those who mocked her for supporting APC presidential candidate Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
