Nollywood actress Sarah Martins has set the internet abuzz with her bold birthday message to controversial activist Very Dark Man (VDM). In a heartfelt post on Instagram, she professed her love for him, describing him as “my baby” and wishing him endless blessings.
Fans and followers were left surprised by her public display of affection, especially considering VDM’s polarizing views.
In her post, Sarah wrote,
Happy birthday to my baby. Wishing you endless of God’s blessings. May the hand of God continue to rest upon you. I love you @verydarkblackman. Cheers to better days ahead.” Her message sparked both support and criticism as VDM’s lifestyle continues to divide public opinion.
The Asaba-based actress is no stranger to controversy herself. Last year, Sarah received a generous N800k gift from one of VDM’s fans after commenting on his page, sparking a wave of online attention. Despite VDM’s contentious stance on various issues, some public figures have voiced support for him. Veteran actress Rita Edochie has called him a well-meaning activist, while BBNaija’s Phyna even encouraged him to run for President, believing his leadership could bring change to Nigeria.
However, not all celebrities share the same view. Vee Iye, a former BBNaija star, has sharply criticized VDM’s supporters, calling for more collective responsibility in Nigerian activism. She questioned the mental health of those who back the activist, urging Nigerians to hold people accountable for their actions.
