Nollywood actress Mary Njoku has sparked deep reflection by posing a series of thought-provoking questions to her followers. In an Instagram story, she questioned the reasons behind our existence, why some people remain alive while others, who were seemingly better or kinder, have passed on, and challenged people to examine their true purpose on earth.
Mary Njoku’s message urged individuals to dig deeper into the meaning of life, pushing past default religious answers like “grace” or “God loves me.” She emphasized that while grace and divine love are real, they apply equally to those who have passed on.
Why are we still here while so many better, kinder, and more faithful individuals are no longer with us? What’s our actual contribution to the people around us, our communities, and this moment in time?” she asked.
In her message, Mary challenged the notion of purpose as simply “winning souls for Christ,” arguing that many who were more effective in that mission have also passed away. She encouraged her followers to reflect on their tangible impact in their communities and the world.
This isn’t the first time Mary Njoku has raised important questions. Days ago, she questioned the value of joining Nollywood guilds and associations, admitting she struggled to provide a clear answer to a budding filmmaker.
In 2023, she challenged celebrities to think about life after fame, asking if they had built a sustainable life beyond stardom or burned bridges in their pursuit of the limelight. She has also been vocal about the culture of social media “keyboard warriors” and the loss of honest, face-to-face accountability.
