Controversial Nollywood actor Uche Maduagwu has once again taken aim at music superstar Davido, this time over the ongoing co-parenting drama with his first baby mama, Sophia Momodu.
Maduagwu’s criticism was sparked by a video of Davido flaunting bundles of cash while spraying money at his manager Asa Asika’s wedding. The actor took to social media to question Davido’s priorities, accusing him of neglecting his daughter, Imade, and living a “fake lifestyle.”
When did you call or visit Imade? You boast of $500,000 diamond teeth and $2 million jewelry, but if you’re truly that rich, why are you taking Sophia to court over money she requested that doesn’t even match the cost of your diamond teeth?” Maduagwu wrote.
In a follow-up post, Maduagwu urged Davido to prioritize investing in his daughter instead of luxury items. He condemned the singer for allegedly refusing Sophia’s requests for financial support, which reportedly included ₦5 million annually for accommodation and $800 monthly for a nanny.
Davido, invest your wealth in Imade and not in diamond jewelry. Any single mum supporting what Davido is doing to Sophia needs church prayers. Can someone explain how you can afford diamond teeth but not the modest amount Sophia asked for?” Maduagwu questioned.
This latest incident is part of a long-standing custody battle between Davido and Sophia. In June, Davido filed a lawsuit seeking joint custody of their daughter, claiming that Sophia was denying him access and extorting money from him—a claim she denied. Sophia opposed the lawsuit, citing concerns about Davido’s parenting abilities following the tragic loss of his son, Ifeanyi.
The feud escalated after Davido publicly declared his love for his now-wife, Chioma Rowland, which reportedly angered Sophia. She accused him of financial abuse and shared a screenshot of an emotional chat between her daughter and her grandmother, where Imade expressed sadness over her father’s neglect and her brother’s death.
Maduagwu’s criticism of Davido is not new. Last year, he slammed the singer for gifting Ubi Franklin a car while allegedly neglecting Sophia’s financial needs. He had suggested that Davido should be paying Sophia ₦23 million for her house rent and advised the singer to focus on supporting his family.
