Nollywood actress Mercy Aigbe was the centre of attention with her stunning grand entrance at the premiere of her colleague Toyin Abraham’s latest movie, Iyalode, set to hit cinemas on June 6th.
Mercy arrived in spectacular fashion—being carried in a gleaming golden palanquin by a group of men, captivating everyone present.
Earlier on the day of the premiere, Mercy surprised Toyin with a beautiful bouquet of flowers. The heartfelt gesture moved Toyin to tears as she warmly embraced and kissed her longtime friend.
The display of affection came despite a recent light-hearted exchange between the two stars. Just a week prior, Toyin had playfully criticized Mercy for her over-the-top outfit at the premiere of Efe Irele’s My Mother Is A Witch, cautioning her not to upstage others at their premieres. Mercy responded confidently, assuring Toyin that she would bring her “A-game” and slay even harder at Iyalode’s premiere.
Their friendship has been marked by mutual admiration. Last month, after Mercy won Best Supporting Actress at the AMVCA, Toyin congratulated her warmly, praising her for delivering a phenomenal performance. Mercy had similarly showered Toyin with praise when Alakada Bad and Boujee ranked as the 5th highest-grossing Nollywood film ever, calling it just the beginning of Toyin’s success.
When Toyin recently received the Trailblazer Award from Silverbird TV, Mercy expressed her pride, stating that the award was a true testament to Toyin’s talent, hard work, and dedication.
Clearly, their professional rivalry is one fueled by genuine respect and deep friendship, much to the delight of fans and the Nollywood community.
