Nollywood actor Lekan Olatunji has shared the harrowing story of his near-fatal accident in 2022, which left him hospitalized for three months and suffering from memory loss. In a recent interview, the Yoruba actor expressed gratitude for surviving the ordeal and praised the medical professionals who played a significant role in his recovery.
Recounting the experience, Lekan said:
There was a time I had an accident, and it wasn’t easy because I was in the hospital for three months with memory loss. I thank God for His grace. Here I am doing well. We should give doctors their own praise and God His glory. Even my doctor friends were shocked and said they wouldn’t have believed me if they hadn’t seen my skull. I went through a series of surgeries, but I thank God because it wasn’t easy.”
The actor’s life was nearly cut short when a ghastly accident left him in critical condition. Images shared at the time showed him on a hospital bed with bandages on his head and arms. Lekan’s survival and subsequent recovery amazed even medical professionals, who considered his case extraordinary.
Just a year after his accident, Lekan faced another devastating blow—the loss of his beloved wife and mother of his three children. Reflecting on her passing, the actor revealed how he spent millions of Naira on her medical treatment, including surgeries, but she succumbed to her illness.
In September last year, Lekan visited his late wife’s grave, sharing photos and a heartfelt tribute. He described her as his strength, anchor, and companion, noting that not a day goes by without thoughts of her.
He wrote:
The pain of your absence still lingers. You were not just my wife but my strength, my anchor, my companion, and my beacon of light.”
In an earlier interview, Lekan disclosed the lengths he went to in an attempt to save her life, including selling two of his cars, only for his efforts to be in vain.
Despite his challenges, Lekan Olatunji remains grateful for life and continues to forge ahead in his career and personal life.
