Ruth Kadiri says God told her who to marry — a revelation that changed everything. The Nollywood actress opened up about how she met her husband during an episode of Dear Ife, a podcast by Diary of a Naija Girl.
According to Ruth, they met at work. At first, she didn’t want to speak to him, but after some convincing from her friend, she agreed to have a conversation. They spoke briefly about business and importation, and just as she got up to leave, something unexpected happened. “The Spirit of God told me he was my husband,” she said. Still unsure, Ruth admitted that she blocked him two days later.
The actress revealed that six years ago, she had no idea they would end up together. Reflecting on her past, Ruth said she always knew her worth and turned down at least three marriage proposals before finally saying yes — this time, because she was led by God.
I was a catch,” she declared. “I knew anybody who would marry me would be lucky.”
Responding to people who believe she’s hiding her man, Ruth clarified that she’s not. She explained that they attend events together and she occasionally posts him, but because he isn’t in the public eye, people assume he’s being kept a secret.
Back in May, during a separate interview with Chude Jideonwo, Ruth spoke about being trolled over the size of her engagement ring. She admitted that while she usually keeps calm, she wasn’t having it that time — and responded to critics one after the other.
Last year, the actress celebrated five years of marriage with a heartfelt note to her husband. In it, she said she wouldn’t have wished for anyone else and credited him for the joy and peace she’s experienced since becoming his wife.
