Nollywood actor Kolawole Ajeyemi appears to be maintaining a neutral stance in the lingering feud between his wife, Toyin Abraham, and her former close friend, Wumi Toriola.
On Friday, July 11th, the Yoruba actor took to Instagram to mark Wumi’s birthday, sharing a lovely photo of the actress alongside a warm message. In his post, Kolawole wished her well and encouraged her to enjoy her special day.
“Happy birthday, dear @wumitoriola! I hope all your birthday wishes come true! It’s your special day. Enjoy your day.”
Interestingly, Wumi responded with gratitude in the comment section, calling him by the nickname “Daddy Ire,” referring to Kolawole and Toyin’s son.
“Thank you, Daddy Ire,” she wrote.
This public exchange comes as a surprise to many, considering the ongoing tension between Wumi and Toyin. The once-close friends reportedly fell out in 2023 over the cast selection for Toyin’s film Ijakumo. According to reports, Wumi was displeased that she wasn’t included in the project, especially since Toyin had a major role in Battle on Buka Street, which starred her rival, Funke Akindele.
Toyin reportedly reached out to Wumi in an attempt to clarify the situation, but the conversation ended in a heated exchange, prompting Toyin to unfollow her on social media. In the fallout, Wumi drew closer to Funke and starred in her movie, seemingly aligning herself with Toyin’s longtime industry rival.
In what seemed like a counter-move, Toyin reconnected with Seyi Edun, Wumi’s own former best friend. Seyi, who had once been involved in Toyin’s past marital controversy, surprised many by promoting Toyin’s movie Bhad and Boujee and supporting her publicly, a gesture Toyin welcomed and acknowledged.
Amid these shifting alliances, fans were reminded of how turbulent these relationships have been. At one point, Wumi and Seyi were inseparable, especially after Seyi married Toyin’s ex-husband, Adeniyi Johnson. But even their friendship eventually crumbled.
Adding to the controversy, Wumi once had to debunk rumours of an alleged affair with Kolawole Ajeyemi. She dismissed the claims and expressed frustration over attempts to damage reputations and stir unnecessary conflict.
