Music executive and talent manager Ubi Franklin has once again addressed the viral claims linking him to an alleged wristwatch theft at Davido and Chioma’s Miami wedding.
Ubi had firmly denied the allegations, calling them false and misleading. Giving his side of the story, Ubi explained that a man named Benny had approached him in Miami, offering to sell him a luxury watch. According to him, Benny later sent his brother to deliver another watch during the church service, which Ubi says he paid for in full.
He added that he left Miami immediately after the wedding to prepare for his sister’s funeral, only for Benny to contact him mid-flight about another wristwatch. Describing the timing as “an extremely difficult and sensitive period” for his family, Ubi stressed that this would be his final public comment on the matter.
Still, on Instagram, Ubi suggested he knows the person behind the story and questioned why people thrive on spreading hate.
Small watch wey I buy don cause this kind casala. I know the person who fabricated this story. You don’t like me, that’s cool, but don’t spread false information. Next two watches na AP and Rolex presidential,” he wrote.
This isn’t the first time Ubi has found himself at the centre of controversy. In May, rumours claimed he clashed physically with Cubana Chief Priest during Davido’s 30BG trip to Abuja—an allegation he brushed off, calling anyone who believed it a fool.
Ubi has also made headlines for public spats, including a shade thrown at Davido’s former lawyer, Prince Ajudua, and a past business disagreement with singer Kizz Daniel over a ₦150 million gig deal.
