Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh has highlighted Gambian fashion during her recent visit to the country. Sharing on Instagram, she showcased a stunning two-piece created by a talented Gambian designer, crafted from the exquisite Borode fabric.
According to Tonto, the vibrant colours and intricate designs allow women to express their style with effortless elegance.
As a Nigerian visiting Gambia, I couldn’t resist highlighting their incredible fashion scene. I wore a beautiful two-piece by a talented Gambian designer @Jongoma_Closet, crafted from the exquisite Borode fabric, beloved across Gambia and West Africa. Its vibrant colours and intricate designs allow women to express their style with effortless elegance. Worn for Eid, weddings, and major celebrations, Borode carries a cultural significance similar to Nigeria’s Asoebi lace,” she shared.
The Borode fabric is celebrated across Senegambia and West Africa, blending personal style with cultural elegance. It is a central part of Gambian fashion, loved for its ability to fuse heritage with modern style.
Earlier this year, Tonto expressed her pride attending the Mid-Term Celebratory Dinner at the Presidential Banquet Hall in Abuja, noting the historic significance of the event. She has also shown her support for President Tinubu, praying for his wisdom, health, and success, and reaffirmed her commitment to the progress of Nigeria and its youth.
