The kick-off and final dates for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations have been announced by the Confederation of African Football(CAF). Furthermore, it is to be hosted in Cote d’Ivoire.
The opening match is scheduled to take place on Saturday, 13 January 2024. It will be played at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Ebimpe, Abidjan. The four-week tournament will also officially conclude on 11 February 2024.
This will be the 34th edition of the tournament. Cote d’Ivoire will play host for the second time after first hosting in 1984. In that year, Cameroon emerged as the winner for the first time.
24 teams will participate in the four-week tournament. Six countries; Algeria, Morocco, South Africa, Tunisia, Burkina Faso, Senegal and hosts= Cote d’Ivoire have already qualified for the biennial competition.
The Super Eagles will join them if they pick a draw in their next game in the qualifiers against the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone in June.
The final draw of the 2023 AFCON will be held in September 2023.
