Nollywood actor Nosa Rex, also known as Baba Rex, has shared his perspective on the untimely death of the late singer Mohbad, shedding light on a critical issue in the entertainment industry – cultism.
In a heartfelt post on his Instagram page, the talented actor emphasized that meaningful change in the entertainment sector will remain elusive until cultism is eradicated. He urged the public to distance themselves from cult activities, stressing that success in entertainment depends on talent, not one’s association with a particular group.
Nosa Rex highlighted the importance of recognizing that the individuals who can make a significant difference in one’s life may not necessarily be from the same group or affiliation. He encouraged people to focus their energy on combating poverty, which he referred to as the only true enemy in Nigeria.
His message resounded,
Until we remove cultism from the entertainment industry, all these issues will not stop. Entertainment requires your talent, not your color. Stay away from cultism. Forget anything anyone will tell you. As you progress in life, you will realize that the people who will help you in life might not even be your confra mate. You might be flying white, and your helper might be purple. Life is deep. The only enemy we have right now is poverty. Channel your energy to the fight against poverty. Ask for updates, share updates, keep your circle small, and enjoy life. Nothing dey this life o. Ignore the messenger and take the message.”
Nosa Rex’s sentiments echo those of his colleague, Uche Ogbodo, who also emphasized the need for concrete actions rather than just words. Uche called out the hypocrisy of Nigerians who encourage people facing challenges to speak out but then mock and ridicule them when they do so.
