On the back of a heartbreaking defeat in the Europa League, crashing out on penalties to  Sporting CP, Arsenal has extended their lead on the summit of the English premier league to 8-points after a  4-1 thrashing of Crystal Palace at the Emirates stadium.

Goals from Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka, and Granit Xhaka helped to secure all three points for the London-based club.  A goal from Schluppe from an Oliseh corner got a consolation goal for Crystal palace in their first game after Crystal Palace fired Patrick Viera, Arsenal legend and former captain.

Arsenal is closely followed by Manchester City who has a game in hand. Manchester City has won four of the last five premier league titles, and the only club to have followed them closely till the end of the season is Liverpool. With Liverpool struggling, Arsenal has been tipped to keep the title race alive till the end of the season having won all their last 5 league games.
