Popular content creator and model, Amarachi Amusi, also known as Ashmusy, has sparked a wave of criticism after an emotional interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo on With Chude’s Show.

During the interview, Ashmusy shared details about her difficult upbringing, revealing that she lived in a one-room apartment with her mother and 20 other people. She also spoke about the struggles she faced while trying to make a name for herself, including attending nearly 100 auditions, including for Big Brother Naija, which she did not pass.

Ashmusy opened up about her experience of borrowing hair and other items to appear more successful and confident in school and in her business ventures. Despite her hardships, she denied using any illicit means, such as engaging in sexual relationships for favors, to advance her career. Specifically, she refuted claims that Nigerian politician Dino Melaye had helped her in exchange for favors.

However, her revelations have drawn heavy criticism from Nigerians on social media, who questioned the plausibility of her story, particularly due to her ability to attend the expensive Madonna University in Nigeria despite her reported poverty. Some commenters have pointed out the contradictions between her claims of extreme poverty and her access to a private university education, with some accusing her of fabricating her struggles.

In response to the backlash, Ashmusy has maintained that her success was achieved solely through hard work and determination, without taking shortcuts. She continues to emphasize that she built her businesses independently and is only just getting started.
