Award-winning comedian Bright Okpocha, popularly known as Basketmouth, has broken his silence regarding the ongoing marital drama involving music legend 2Face Idibia and his wife, Annie.
While addressing the situation, Basketmouth also shared insights into his personal experiences, including his divorce from his ex-wife, Elsie Okpocha.
Taking to his social media, Basketmouth revealed that many had questioned his silence on the matter despite his decades-long relationship with the couple—27 years with 2Face and 24 years with Annie. He explained that he deliberately chose not to get involved, citing his personal circumstances and desire to avoid being dragged into unnecessary drama.
“I am not in any position to get involved. I am not qualified at all, especially me. I am trying to have an undraggable year. Let’s back off—they’ve got kids and a family.”
Basketmouth humorously admitted feeling slighted that 2Face didn’t consult him before going public with the divorce announcement. He lamented how the timing affected his ability to promote his upcoming shows, jokingly blaming 2Face for disrupting his tour plans.
“Tuface should have called me. I would have told him to post it in late February after my shows.”
Basketmouth’s commentary on 2Face’s situation comes against the backdrop of his own divorce from Elsie Okpocha. In 2022, he announced the end of their marriage, pledging to co-parent peacefully while requesting privacy.
Basketmouth’s response to 2Face and Annie’s drama has elicited mixed reactions. Some praised his mature stance on not interfering in their private matters, while others noted the irony of his comments, given his own publicized marital challenges.
