In the wake of the candlelight procession held in memory of the late and talented singer Mohbad, who tragically passed away the previous week, Yoruba actress Bukunmi Oluwasina bid him a heartfelt farewell, expressing her deep emotions.
Bukunmi Oluwasina, who appeared to share a close bond with the departed singer, posted photos from the procession along with a touching message.
She revealed that the shocking news of his alleged burial alive had added another layer of trauma to her grief. She confessed that her mind refused to accept or conjure the image of him struggling for breath and fighting for his life beneath the ground.
To preserve her cherished memories of him, she chose not to remember him in pain and avoid shedding tears each time those memories resurfaced. Instead, she intended to remember him as someone who had been taken from them abruptly, believing that he had found the peace he had yearned for, sung about, and fought for throughout his life.
In her poignant message, she encouraged him to rest in peace, assuring him that God was already fighting on his behalf, with the entire nation rallying for justice.
Her touching note reads:
I lit a candle for you last night, my dearest friend, just like the rest of the world did.
But today, I find myself at a loss for words and unable to express my thoughts because of the shocking news that you were allegedly buried alive.
Whether it’s true or false, I do not know. But it has become another layer of trauma for me. My mind resists the idea of picturing you awakening beneath the earth, struggling for breath and fighting for your life, just as you did while you were here with us.
No, my heart cannot bear that thought. So, I choose to remember you as someone who was taken away from us without warning. To a place where you can finally find the peace you’ve prayed for, sung about, and fought for all your life.
Go to sleep, dear friend. You deserve the rest, for I see God Himself already fighting on your behalf.
I understand why. You have always been special and precious to Him, like the apple of His eye, ‘Imole.’ The entire nation and beyond are restless since your departure. You are dearly loved, my brother, and your light continues to shine.
If only they knew, they wouldn’t have touched you.
God walks with us as we seek justice for you, my friend. He leads us to victory because no one fights a battle better than the one who owns it.
On this day, I pray that your light continues to illuminate this dark world, as always. And may God watch over all that is yours and those who genuinely loved and cared for you, those you left behind.
Rest in peace, ILERIOLUWA. 💔🌷
Send my regards to my Dad.
Until we meet again, never to part.
GOODBYE.”
