As reported by Goal, Chelsea is prepared to terminate the contract of out-of-favour forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after his return to Barcelona over the weekend.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang returned to The Spotify Camp Nou on Sunday. He watched his former Barcelona teammates defeat Real Madrid to move 12 points clear in the La Liga title race.

The Gabonese forward signed for Chelsea from the Blaugrana last summer. He was pictured in the Barcelona changing room following the full-time whistle on Sunday as celebrations ensued following a crucial El Clasico victory.

Spanish outlet SPORT writes that during this visit Aubameyang openly expressed his desire to return to the club he called home for half a season. This is despite not being in contact with president Joan Laporta directly. It is thought he would even be willing to take a pay cut in order to facilitate the move.

Chelsea is reportedly open to terminating the striker’s contract a year early. This would let him link back up with the Catalan club in the summer. The return to England has been one to forget for Aubameyang. Considering he specifically by Thomas Tuchel’s request only for the German to be sacked days later.
