In an unexpected turn of events, Nigerian singer Chike has found himself in the center of an internet frenzy after gifting a troll the sum of one million Naira following a heated exchange on social media.

The interaction, which began with the troll claiming that late singer Mohbad was responsible for Chike’s success, escalated into a back-and-forth that ultimately led to Chike’s unconventional act of charity.

It all started when a social media troll taunted Chike, claiming that the late Mohbad was the reason behind the singer’s success, and without him, Chike wouldn’t have achieved forty million streams on music platforms. The troll’s remarks didn’t sit well with Chike, leading to an exchange of words between the two.

Chike, clearly irritated, responded with a sharp retort:

Now I doubt your mother even made you right. If she didn’t teach you manners, she should have taught you research. I for send you like 1M now, make hunger comot your eye make you see road but your account fit collapse. Let the good guy rest in peace.”

Undeterred by the insult, the troll brazenly provided his account number, challenging Chike to follow through on his sarcastic offer. In a surprising move, Chike actually sent the troll one million Naira, advising him to eat, implying that hunger was the motivation behind the troll’s online antics.

The troll, elated by the unexpected windfall, celebrated the moment, stating that if not for his trolling, he wouldn’t have received such a large sum of money.

Chike’s unconventional approach to dealing with online negativity has sparked a wave of reactions online, with many people expressing both amusement and criticism.

One user, @iamnasboi, joked, “Make I find way insult Davido, I fit see 10 million,” highlighting the potential financial benefits of trolling.

Another user, @makersp_, found the situation hilarious, quoting the troll: “‘If no be for hate wetin I for chop this night’ is so hilarious.”

However, not everyone saw the humor in the situation. @blessingngozika commented, “Rewarding bad behaviour should never be encouraged,” reflecting the sentiment that Chike’s actions might inadvertently encourage more trolling.

Some fans also felt neglected, with @comradeierrbernard writing, “Ignores the loyal fans, recognizes and gifts the trolls. Haha! It’s not just him though. That’s what most celebrities do.”

Amid the various reactions, @macdenemmanuel speculated that the entire incident could be a publicity stunt, remarking, “Gather here if you believe this is PR? Apparently, he’ll release a song soon. If not why pay someone for insulting you?”
