Superstar artist David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, recently made headlines after ordering the arrest of Abu Salami, a Nigerian photographer and businessman who had accused him of failing to honour a contractual agreement.
Salami claimed that he had paid Davido N218 million for a project related to a children’s football initiative, which Davido allegedly did not fulfill. In response, Davido accused Salami of signature forgery, cyberstalking, and cyberbullying, leading to the businessman’s arrest and subsequent photos circulating on social media.
The news of the arrest divided opinions among the public, with some condemning Davido’s use of power to allegedly intimidate and oppress others. Criticism was particularly directed at his handling of the situation, questioning the use of influence to resolve the dispute.
Amid the controversy, various voices on social media voiced concerns, ranging from accusations of bullying and abuse of power to defending Davido’s actions as an opportunity for Salami to present evidence to support his claims.
Additionally, Salami took a swipe at Davido, drawing comparisons between the singer and his rival, Burna Boy. He highlighted a scenario where Burna Boy reportedly selflessly transferred N15 million to an individual in dire need, contrasting it with the ongoing conflict involving Davido.
