Award-winning music star Davido celebrated his 32nd birthday in grand style, gifting himself a luxurious Richard Mille wristwatch valued at over $500,000.
The singer, known for his extravagant lifestyle, shared the moment he received the watch in a joint Instagram post with his jeweler. In the clip, he proudly wore and flaunted the luxury timepiece.
While fans celebrated his acquisition, reactions online varied. One user remarked, “All this doesn’t matter in heaven,” while another called him the “richest artiste in the world.” Critics questioned the necessity of his frequent luxury purchases, though many others applauded his success.
In addition to the watch, Davido received a premium Escalade 600 luxury car from M Jautos, one of his preferred automobile companies. The car adds to a growing list of acquisitions this year, including a Tesla Cyber Truck worth ₦254 million and a Rolls Royce Spectre, rumored to have cost nearly a billion naira.
A week before his birthday, Davido took delivery of a Bombardier 7500 private jet worth $68–78 million. While some congratulated him, others dismissed the purchase as funded by his billionaire father, Adedeji Adeleke. However, Davido’s aide, Isreal DMW, refuted such claims, insisting the jet was his boss’s own achievement.
Davido recently stirred criticism following a foreign interview where he cautioned Black Americans against relocating to Africa, citing economic struggles and other challenges. Though he clarified his comments as not intending to “badmouth” Africa, his remarks sparked backlash.
Critics like Reno Omokri and TV presenter Akashat Nymat called him out for his perceived lack of patriotism. Omokri urged Davido to learn from global stars like Rihanna, who consistently promote their home countries. On the flip side, Paulo Okoye defended the singer, arguing that his remarks reflected Nigeria’s harsh economic realities.
Responding to threats of canceling his December 24th show, Davido tweeted, “Lol, I don’t have to perform in Nigeria,” doubling down on his stance while asserting his position as a global ambassador for African music.
